Lisa Gelley
Lisa Gelley | Co-Director, Collaborator / Performer
Lisa is a versatile performer, teacher and choreographer in contemporary and urban dance. She received her training in her hometown of Vancouver, Canada and abroad in Belgium, France and Italy. During the 07/08 Season, she trained at Le Groupe Dance Lab in Ottawa and was a guest interpreter for the In-House Process, monitored by Peter Boneham and Tony Chong. Lisa has recently returned from Tel Aviv, Israel where she carried out her second intensive period of study in Gaga technique and Batsheva Dance Company repertoire with Ohad Naharin. Lisa has worked with many independent Vancouver choreographers (Dana Gingras, the response./Amber Funk Barton, mmHOP/Martha Carter), performing contemporary, urban and aerial dance works. Currently, Lisa primarily works as co-artistic director of 605 Collective, and as interpreter for The Contingency Plan (Vanessa Goodman, Jane Osborne), and Aeriosa (Julia Taffe), with recent performances in Cachoera, Being and IN SITU, choreographed by Amelia Rudolph (Project Bandaloop). In addition to her work as a performer/choreographer, Lisa teaches several professional training programs in Vancouver including Modus Operandi and Scholarship Vancouver.
